If I weren’t here, I’d be out with my friends, walking Bella in the park. It’s one of those perfect fall days: cool air, crunchy leaves, and sunlight everywhere. Bella’s pulling on her leash like always, sniffing every tree like it’s the most interesting thing ever. I’ve got my earbuds in, listening to beabadoobee, and I’m eating a pear grabbed on the way out.

We walk, and I’m just enjoying the little things-the way the light hits the trees, the sound of Bella’s paws on the path. My friends are talking about some new movie or game, and I’m half-listening, half-watching Bella try to chase a squirrel. She yanks the leash so hard I drop my pear, and we all laugh. It’s nothing big, but it’s peaceful.
