From a young age, automation and convenience have captivated me. I recall setting up a clever rope and pulley system at just 8 years old to close my bedroom door from the comfort of my bed. As a coding enthusiast, my current ambition is to fully automate my bedroom using home assistant, incorporating its assist module for voice recognition. To achieve this, I intend to utilize a Raspberry Pi or a second-hand Dell PC/Nuc, with custom Python/Micropython modules and integrations, including a custom gesture control system powered by openCV.

However, I am aware of the challenges ahead. The expenses associated with components like esp32s, Arduinos, and servos, coupled with the time-consuming tasks of soldering, testing, and programming, pose significant hurdles. My limited hardware expertise, lack of ML knowledge and not enough time this year further compound the complexity.

So I think it’s wise to postpone the project for at least a year, to give me time to develop the necessary knowledge and skills. By doing so, I hope to make this dream of a project more feasible and hopefully successful.
